The Hispanic Answer to American Idol is Quincenera: Mama, Quiero Ser Artista:
Quinceanera Reality Show on Telemundo: "Quincenera: Mama Quiero Ser Artista (Mom, I Want To Be A Star)"
Second or third generations of US latinos are reconnecting with their culture and traditions. In fact, there is a lot beauty in the Hispanic culture. But for many years, there was a certain neglect of the culture and language. Now there is a resurgence of interest in anything latino of hispanic. Quinceneras are as Hispanic, Mexican, Puerto Rican and any latin American country tradition as apple pie is in the American cultural landscape. Speaking Spanish in public used to be seen as bad. Now, it is cool to be bilingual and be able to speak English and Spanish at the same time or even in the same sentence. What is even more interesting is that other ethnic groups have started to learn Spanish to use it at work, school and overseas. Asians as well as Caucasian kids are learning Spanish. African American youngsters are learning to speak the language of Cervantes. Quinceneras have always been popular in the Hispanic culture. As long as there Hispanic people, Mexicans, Central Americans and South Americans who are willing to come to the US, Quinceneras are going to be celebrated.
